Unleashing this beautiful story and the history surrounding the town of Iola, Colorado is told so eloquently and powerfully by Shelley Read. I was immediately taken in from the first words of this book and finished it in a couple of days … not wanting it to end. Thank you for this gift … wow I hope you are working on the sequel.

Every beautiful detail about Colorado shines through out this book! Reminded me how captivating it was when we first moved here! Also the heartfelt, moving reality of the loss of loved ones….. Touched and moved me beyond words. Lastly the simple yet profound title and cover. Bravo Ms Read! Loved it!!

This book is a must read. It is a book of overcoming life’s challenges and finding hope and courage when the odds of inner peace are against you.

I was swept away by the depth of sadness, the power of unspoken tenderness, and the tenacity of mother’s love expressed in this beautifully wrought novel. I can’t recommend it enough.

Once I got past the introductory chapters, which set up a very harsh and depressing childhood for the heroine, I was all in on this beautifully told story. I can’t recommend it highly enough. It does help to be familiar with the locations described but it’s also a universal story and doesn’t gloss over the sadness and difficulties that families sometimes bring to one. Beautiful.

There is so much heart and soul poured into this book! It is written so beautifully - artfully, really! I loved it!

I loved most of this novel. Beautiful language. Characters who stay under your skin. Creative and original. Can’t give quite five stars as the end drags on a bit, rather sentimental. But overall a strong story and I enjoyed it very much.
